Car Stuff
25 June 2025
TL;DR
Car advice for people who don’t care about cars, but still want to make a smart choice (and maybe chuckle once or twice).
I’ve worked in the automotive industry my entire career. That’s wild to say, and if I think about it for too long, I start to hyperventilate. But through all those years, one thing kept bugging me:
Why isn’t there more car content for people who don’t care about cars?
We don’t mean the enthusiasts who can recite engine specs in their sleep. We’re talking about the rest of us – the people who just want something safe, reliable, and maybe even a little bit cool to get from A to B. The kind of person who starts Googling “best small SUV” after their beloved 2012 hatchback starts making suspicious noises.
It’s kind of like all the other useful life stuff we were never taught in school, like variable loans, how to plan a week of actual meals, or how to emotionally recover from your first PAYG deduction.
Buying a car is one of those grown-up moments that sneaks up on you, and suddenly you’re knee-deep in jargon, price tags, and more options than your last panic scroll on Uber Eats. Australia has over 65 car brands available. Sixty-five. That’s like walking into a bakery and being told to choose between 65 types of bread. White, wholegrain, chia seed, sourdough? The overwhelm would be instant.
That’s where Drive Thru Media comes in.
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re in the middle of trying to choose your next car, or you’re just a very supportive friend who clicked the link out of loyalty (thank you, love you). Either way, we’re here to help.
Now, before you roll your eyes and go, “Oh great, another car review website,” hear us out. We’re not trying to be yet another enthusiast blog run by people who care about torque. We’re here to make car shopping less painful, more real, and useful. Not like some other sites that say they’re beginner-friendly, but one paragraph in they’re slinging jargon like they're trying to hit a word count.
We're here to cut through the BS. To help people who don’t care about cars make good car decisions anyway. No unexplained jargon, no corporate buzzwords, and maybe a few laughs along the way.
Because car shopping should be this easy:
"Hi, can I please get a stylish hatchback?"
"No worries, just drive thru to the second window for your Mazda 3."
So, whether you’re deep in research mode or just here killing time between episodes of MAFS – welcome. Let’s make choosing a car suck a little less, shall we?
