Whats the vibe?
Suzuki’s first new car in ten years is finally here and it’s called the Fronx (no, that's not a typo, it's a mashup of the words frontier and crossover).
It lands right in the middle of one of Australia’s most competitive segments, the small SUV, where everyone from Toyota to Chery is fighting for attention. But instead of throwing out six trim levels and a price list that looks like a tax return, Suzuki has done something refreshingly simple: one version, one price with a bunch of stuff included.
It’s aimed at drivers (obviously) who want something efficient, compact and easy to live with. Think of it as a Swift that hit puberty and then the gym.
Plenty of features for the price
Perfect size, roomy but compact
Fuel efficiency is pretty good
Far from fast and lowkey noisy
Could be cheaper if there was less spec?
Vague steering feel
The Suzuki Fronx is proof that simplicity still sells. It’s easy, efficient and cleverly equipped, and it finally gives Suzuki something fresh to talk about after years of leaning on the Swift and Jimny.
It’s not sporty, and it’s not a tech powerhouse, but it nails what most buyers actually want – reliability, efficiency, and a proper value-for-money package. It feels like the brand has remembered who it is: a maker of fun, fuss-free cars that don’t break the bank.
Ultimately, a car with fewer fancy features could have ideally brought the price down to compete with new cheap cars coming in, but with one of the lowest recall rates in the country, Suzuki still has strong merit.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to get back into a Suzuki, this might just be it.
Overall, we would recommend this car if:
You're budget concious
You love Suzuki
Reliability is front of mind
